Belfast City Hall Wedding With Susana and David

Susana and David booked one of my micro‑wedding packages. From our first call they were adamant about keeping things relaxed and personal. They only wanted their closest family and friends, and they chose Belfast City Hall for its beautiful architecture and central location. Walking into the place, you’re always struck by the marble . It’s one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic buildings, and even though their ceremony lasted just a few minutes, the space made it feel grand.

After they exchanged vows and rings in the registrar’s room, we dandered through the corridors for portraits. The stained glass windows and marble balustrades are always my favourite spots. Outside, we took a few more photographs on the lawns before strolling through the Cathedral Quarter for some candid shots.

We then headed to SHU Restaurant for a cosy late‑lunch reception. They had booked the Club Room and Boardroom, adjoining spaces which are perfect for a medium size wedding part in Belfast, seating up to fifty‑six and featuring a decorative walnut and brass bar where the drinks were flowing.

Cocktails and canapés were served downstairs in Jul’s bar while a pianist played. When everyone sat down, the chefs served beef bourguignon and roast lamb shepherd’s pie. It was low‑key and perfect for them. Their flowers were by Reid’s Florist, a family‑run Belfast business known for quality and friendly service, so the bouquets were simple, elegant.

I stayed to photograph the speeches and the first slice of cake before leaving them to enjoy the rest of their afternoon. It’s amazing how much of a story you can tell in three hours, and I loved the intimacy and warmth of their day.
